#1 - Starting From The Bottom (My 7 Figure Plan)

2 weeks ago I sold my first content site for 6 Figures.

The goal is to exit for 7 figures in 3 years. This may be split between a few different properties.

Hitting 7 figures will require getting the sites to around $30k/month

This is the first of many weekly newsletters I will be sending out to document this journey.

Each week you will get a rundown of what happened the week before and my plans for the week ahead. Chances are, I will occasionally also throw in some other things I learned throughout the week. Maybe a book I read or an interesting video I checked out.

Starting From The Bottom

There's something exciting about starting from scratch again. It's probably my favorite part of building a business.

It brings me back to 7 years ago when I was building my first e-commerce store in the bedroom of my Dad's house.

I had no money worth talking about. Just a laptop and some motivation to make some damn money.

While I now have a small War Chest of cash at my disposal, I don't have any concrete cash-flowing businesses behind me.

It's time to get money flowing again. There's nothing worse than watching a pile of cash dwindle away.

The first step is getting cash flow positive again which shouldn't be too hard. I have a couple of thousand coming in from some previous business ventures each month.

The Current Situation

As we all know niche sites take months to start spitting off cashflow so where am I going to make money in the meantime?

1. Youtube - While I haven't been very active on Youtube in the past year I want to get back at it and start creating more content. As I'm already monetized and have a decent audience it shouldn't be very hard getting this to a couple of thousand per month.

2. Consulting - While I don't overly want to do any consulting work, I may take on a couple of clients if the right projects come along.

For the first 3-6 months this will be the bulk of my income until the content sites start producing again.

Here's the rundown of my current sites:

Site #1 - Main Affiliate Site

Started - January 2023Current Traffic - 0

This site is likely going to be my main focus this year. I just started it last Monday and have put two posts up which are already getting some decent impressions.

The niche is HIGH COMPETITION and I won't overly be focusing on low competition keywords as I have in the past. I will personally be writing all the posts for the first few months on this site as I have the expertise and it limits my downside.

The fact that the hosting package was purchased on Monday and we're on Page 1 for some keywords on Friday shows that good content can break through. I'll also be pushing links to the site once we get a good base of content.

The monetization will primarily consist of affiliate offers at least until we reach Mediavine levels. I want to focus on recurring affiliate offers that allow me to have secure cash flow even if traffic on the site drops off.

That's my main focus this year. While going for higher competition keywords may be a riskier strategy, I believe the payoff will be higher in the long run.

I have also started a Youtube channel for this brand and have already published two videos last week. I want there to be a video produced for every post on this site.

Site #2 - Passion Project

Started - December 2022Current Traffic - 30 Pageviews/Month

The 6 figure site I sold was a passion niche of mine. I knew the niche well and was able to produce content easily and enjoyed it... Most of the time.

I want to have a site where I can have the same outlet. If I don't feel like writing about Niche 1 I can write here.

For this site, I am using the more traditional strategy of going after low-competition keywords, at least until it gains some traction.

I'm currently not writing anything for this site, but I have two writers producing 3-4 articles per week. I want to get this ramped up now I have sold my other site.

In terms of monetization, this site will mainly be focused on display ads, with a blend of affiliate offers.

Site #3 - Aged Domain Site

Started - February 2022Traffic - 4000 Pageviews/Month

This site is an aged domain I got from ODYS Global last year. In the first few months the site progressed as you would expect but then it tanked in an update.

After the site got hit, I didn't give it much attention and then all of a sudden it came back to life and has slowly been on an uptrend since. There are currently 100 posts on the site and no new content has been added since June last year.

As it's now starting to show some good signs, I may have to get to work on it.

I am currently trying to decide whether or not to actually publish good content on the site or use it as an AI testing playground. It currently has a good foundation and I think we could take it to the Mediavine level within 2-3 months.

Let me know if you think I should go the AI route or use actual writers to produce good content.
