February Portfolio Update

Traffic is up significantly in February as we started publishing hard on the aged domain. It’s just a pity RPMs have been so poor. I’m still focusing on getting this site to Mediavine as soon as possible.

In other news, we got our first few affiliate commissions on the affiliate site. It made $27 from 76 users in February. Commissions are coming from a single article and seem to be coming in regularly every 4-5 days.

Hopefully, in March I will be able to get a few more articles out on this site and drive more commissions.

I lost $558 in February which isn’t overly aggressive considering I sold my last site for 6 figures plus. We have the funds to invest more but I find myself being fairly risk-averse and wanting to produce as much as I can myself until I have some more cash flow.

It will be interesting to see how this dashboard materializes over the next 10 months. Below you can see how long it took me to get my last site to $8k per month. Hopefully, this time we can reach this goal much faster.

Qualified For Ezoic Premium

This week the Aged domain site finally crossed the mark to be in Ezoic premium. As much as I hate the concept of Ezoic premium I signed up anyway. The RPMs have been so low on this site I need to try something to bump them up.

I could be wrong but I felt like when I was using Ezoic on my past site, my normal earnings went up when I activated Ezoic Premium. I guess we will see over the next week or so.

I’m on the very first tier of Premium, costing $5/month, and expect to make an extra $6 - 8 per month according to Ezoic.

Huge Tip:

Do not sign up for long-term contracts with Ezoic if you plan to apply to other ad networks. I had previously signed up for a year-long contract on my first website and had to pay $1,540 to cancel this subscription early when I moved to Mediavine.

While I might make a little less profit on the month to month, it gives me the freedom to move as soon as I can to another ad network.

Haro Link Building Campaign Is Under Way

A few weeks ago Linkifi reached out to me asking if I wanted to partner with them for my new site.

As the affiliate site I have started is quite high competition I’m going to need some link juice behind the site and one of the best ways to do it is by getting HARO links.

I don’t know much about the outreach process and honestly don’t want to spend my time on outreach work so partnering with Linkifi made sense.

It’s been about 3 weeks since we started and they have just landed the first link to the site. It’s DR 52 with 11.4k traffic.

Fast Traffic Keyword Strategy

Now for this week’s tips and tricks section, I want to go through one of the easiest keyword strategies you can use to find easy-to-rank keywords.

It’s the strategy I have been using this month on my aged domain site to take it from around 3,000 pageviews per month to 20,000 page views per month in a single month.

This week I made a full video on the strategy if you would prefer to watch it. Otherwise, I’ll give a brief overview of the strategy below:

The basis of this strategy is going after FRESH CONTENT. 15% of all searches in google have never been seen before.

If you are trying to target queries that have been around for years and already have lots of competition, it’s going to be hard to rank. Even when you do write much better content, it can take months for the post to work it’s way up the rankings.

When you go after keywords that are fresh and haven’t been answered or have only been answered by a few people it’s much easier to rank high and rank fast.

I like to after queries about newly launched products. When a new product launches people have a lot of questions about the product:

• Is product good for X?

• Is product better than X?

• How to do X with product

• How To Setup X with Product

There is usually 20-30 obvious queries you can target. This is great especially with popular products that you know 10,000s of people will be purchasing.

Let’s take a look at a specific example:

Camera’s

When a new camera launches there will be hundreds of questions about specific settings on the camera. For example, a recent camera to launch is the Sony A7r iv.

When you do a google auto search on new products you won’t get many examples as it takes a while for the data to update.

However, if you simply plug in previous camera model, you will get a massive selection of questions that will also be asked about the new camera model.

Use the method of going letter by letter to identify questions people will be asking. You can then write these posts for the latest camera model knowing people will also be asking the same questions.

You can see for the shutter speed on the Sony A7r iv there are forums ranking page 1 meaning it should be fairly easy to rank for.

That’s the strategy in a nutshell. If you don’t want to use the google auto-suggest method I would recommend using low fruits to pull keywords for you and also give you keyword volume.

1. Pull a list of keywords for the Sony a6400 on Lowfruits

2. Use these keywords to write the same articles for the latest model of camera

3. Write articles based on search volume for the previous model.

If an article has a 10 search volume on Lowfruits, it’s usually much more in reality.

Obviously, in certain cases, there will be some features or settings that aren’t applicable to the new model. Simply avoid these.
