March Stats, Refining & Scaling My AI Strategy, Marathon PB & More...

I’m just home from Paris after running a marathon PB on Sunday! If you read last week’s newsletter I was comparing the similarities between content sites & running.

Well, the consistent training, just like consistent posting, paid off this weekend and I managed to run a 3:28 about 7 minutes faster than I had targeted.

Now I have got some more content to add to my running blog this month. I plan to write a couple of articles this afternoon when I wrap up this newsletter.

Anyway, let’s get down to business. Here’s what we’re covering in today’s newsletter:

March Portfolio Update

When you look at the numbers above, everything looks pretty good on the surface. At least the numbers are going up. However, I think we could be further ahead.

While I posted 70 articles this month I believe there were a few too many trend-capturing articles, rather than evergreen content.

While I still want to keep trending topics as part of my posts, I want to skew the mix of posts more toward evergreen topics.

For the Aged domain site which is currently pulling in most of our pageviews, I have put together a targeted list of 82 topics to go after this month.

I believe most of these articles are able to be produced in a fairly templated manner with AI, which I’m going to talk more about later.

Revenue increased slightly on Ezoic but the RPMs are still horrible. More of a push than ever needs to happen now to get this site to Mediavine. If ad revenue is going to be a main source of revenue then a premium network is essential.

In terms of the other sites, no real work was done on them last month. I was putting a lot of focus into the marathon so now it’s wrapped up, I should have more time to dedicate to this portfolio.

Scaling AI Content

In a previous issue, I mentioned how I was producing content by feeding ChatGPT information and having it create the article from that information.

This strategy seems to be working fairly well. I tested a batch of articles over the past week which was fairly competitive and we are starting to rank.

Our articles have jumped into the SERPs within a couple of days on page 2-3.

Over time we should hopefully see this content rise up to page 1 and start to bring in traffic.

This gives me enough confidence to start really scaling up the AI content and pushing its limits on this site.

My plans for the rest of the week are to hire a “ChatGPT operator” to create the articles for me. This removes me from the equation and means I have a consistent flow of content coming in.

I think pushing out 7-10 articles per day isn’t out of the question once we iron out any kinks.

This is completely experimental and could backfire if Google decides to come down hard on AI content.

However, the quality of the GPT4 articles is very good. I would go as far as saying better than most of the content you would get from a content agency.

The plan is to:

1. Create a training video for each type of article I plan on creating

2. Hire an operator on an hourly rate to crank out these articles using my process

3. I will edit and publish the articles for now

Moving forward I think this could be completely automated with a python script and the GPT4 API.

If I get some time, I may play around and see if I can create the script itself using ChatGPT.

We’ll see if I get a chance to do that before next Monday.
